Common admin issues when managing an Egnyte organization

Unexpected billing costs

Egnyte plans include access to base features, with additional features as separate add-ons. These add-ons are priced per month and have been reported as points of confusion for some admins.

Discounted billing also applies only to licenses above the threshold; for instance, if there is a discount after 500 users and the organization has 600, that discounted rate will only be for the last 100.

Apps or Integrations not working for some users

Egnyte has dozens of third-party apps and integrations such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Desktop and Mobile integrations.

When adding an integration, the admin has the option to add all users by default, let users add the integration themselves, or only allow it for specific groups. Users who haven't added the integration or who are not part of the allowed group may run into issues or have reduced functionality compared to others in the organization, which adding or updating integration access may solve.

Can't share files or folders

Egnyte is unique in that there is no direct user-to-user sharing. Instead of sharing via directly adding users, users share content by moving objects to a shared space.

Another option is to generate a Shared Link that includes appropriate access permissions.
