Unlimited Storage and Bandwidth Limits
Explanation of Unlimited Storage and limitations in Box accounts
Box advertises as having unlimited storage, but it's not as straightforward as having no limits.
Unlimited storage
While it is technically true that an account can add unlimited files, users are subject to bandwidth restrictions for uploading and downloading files that refresh each month. So although there are no limits to the amount of data in an account, adding, downloading, or removing data are subject to a bandwidth limit, which does have limitations.
Bandwidth Limit
The terms and conditions of Box have a Fair Use Policy outlining what they consider fair use.
As of this writing, the current bandwidth unit is 1TB per paid user.
This means that in order to truly take advantage of unlimited storage, such as having an Exabyte of storage uploaded, it would take an organization of 10,000 users over 8 years of uploads only to have all the data stored in Box.
As this is not a hard limit but rather subject to a fair-use policy, it may be possible to increase the 1TB limit by talking with an account representative.
