# Auditing

The primary method of auditing in Google Workspace is through the audit and investigation tool. This tool allows admins to run searches, download reports, and create reporting rules for audit purposes.

Higher-tier plans have a more powerful version of this tool called the security investigation tool in the [Security Center](/cloud-storage-platforms/google-workspace-overview/reporting-and-auditing/security-center.md) that allows for more detailed queries and reports.
